Part 0 - Intro: God, Man, Jesus Christ & Salvation

Introduction

Before asking which Church Christ founded, we first need to ask the more fundamental questions: Does God exist? Who is Jesus Christ? What has gone wrong with mankind, and why do we need salvation at all?

This Part establishes the foundations on which everything later in the FAQ depends.

We will examine whether belief in God is reasonable, what can be known about Him, the nature and purpose of the human person, the reality of evil and suffering, and whether God has revealed Himself to mankind. From there, the focus turns to Jesus Christ: His historical existence, His claims, His miracles, His Resurrection and the evidence for His divinity. We will also consider why the Incarnation and Crucifixion were necessary and what Christ taught about salvation.

The central conclusion of this Part is that Christianity does not begin with the Catholic Church, the papacy or Vatican II. It begins with the reality of God, the condition of fallen man, and the Person of Jesus Christ. If Christ truly is God made man, then His teaching and the means of salvation He established cannot be treated as matters of personal preference.

We therefore begin with the most basic question of all: Does God exist? Let’s go!
